Forget sugared almonds and other old fashioned ideas, for today’s wedding tips we’re talking about fresh, contemporary wedding favours that your guests certainly won’t leave behind! When it comes to your favours, or ‘table gifts’, you shouldn’t feel pressured into spending a fortune (you’re a bride to be – you have enough to worry about!), and truth be told, you don’t need to – there are lots of ways to treat your guests to something personal and memorable without breaking the bank.
Personalised Button Badges
If you’re planning a quirky sort of wedding day with a vintage twist, button badges are a simple, low cost wedding favour that people love. You could design them yourself, or have a creative friend do it for you – perhaps ‘brand’ them with your wedding date, some ‘team bride’, some ‘team groom’, or even a favourite photo of you together. The possibilities are endless, you could even pin one on to your dazzling Venus bridal gown at your evening reception – get your girlfriends to attach them to their bridesmaid dresses too for a great photo opportunity!
Are you planning to dazzle your guests at your destination wedding, looking incredible in a Venus Informals gown and dancing ‘til dawn? Why not pre-empt their fuzzy heads the next morning and put together mini ‘morning after kits’, with a bottle of mineral water and a couple of ‘plink plink fizz’ tablets to aid recovery? You could even provide a basket of flip flops for tired feet so that your guests can literally kick off their heels and keep the dance party going longer!
Miniature sweet jars are always a big hit and it’s easy to personalise them to match your wedding style. For example, if your wedding gown has lace detailing, find a similar fabric to dress up the lids, or if you’re opting for a jewel encrusted Venus wedding dress, why not make little tags for your favours with stick on gems?
Seeds of Love
Seed packets are inexpensive and can easily be personalised with your names, wedding date and so on. Attach a note for each guest encouraging them to ‘sow their own seeds of love’ for a beautiful gift that will last for years to come!
Cardboard match boxes are inexpensive and full of possibilities. Paint with chalk board paint and add your own details, go for a play on words about being a ‘perfect match’ or decorate in your wedding colours and fill with sweets or another small gift for your guests.
Another thrifty tip, is to create table decor that doubles up as your favours. Tiny potted succulents, or miniature posies of flowers look wonderful grouped together as centre pieces, add a tag to match the fabric of your wedding gown, or an element of your overall wedding theme, and they make perfect gifts for your guests to take away too!
Really and truly, you shouldn’t feel obliged to offer favours at all, but if you would like to, we hope we’ve shown that they don’t need to cost the earth to mean the world to your guests.
