Save the date cards that your guests will love

Did the love of your life pop the question over the festive season? Congratulations! Here at Venus Bridal, we know that you’re probably already brimming with ideas and plans, and lists of wedding tips. But before you get too carried away with the all important job of hunting down your dream wedding dress and talking to your best girls about their bridesmaid dress preferences, why not take a moment to make sure that all your nearest and dearest will be in attendance to see you looking radiant – that’s right, we’re talking about save the date cards. You’ll want to send your save the date cards out at least six months before the big day, so as soon as you’ve set a date and secured the venue, it’s time to secure your guests too!

When you come to creating your save the date cards, don’t rush; it’s much more than just a practicality – it’s your first official act as fiancé and fiancée, so you want to make it memorable! Of course the practical reason for sending them is important, so you need to be sure to include vital statistics such as date (obviously!) and venue, but other than that, the only limit is your imagination! Your save the date card can act as a sneak preview of your big day – set the tone, perhaps hint at your theme. If you’re not settled on a wedding style yet, it can be something that’s personal and unique to you and your loved one as a couple. Whatever you decide, here are some ideas that will have your guests not just saving the date, but really looking forward to it too…

Keep it simple: A stylish bespoke postcard with a great photo of you & the love of your life and some chic typography to announce all the essential info can be a great way to catch people’s attention. The trick is to come up with a clever layout and a fantastic image. Pinterest is full of great inspiration and ideas.

Get Crafty: Homemade save the date cards are a lovely personal touch, and perfect if you’re planning lots of DIY decor for your big day. Keep the design simple and easy to reproduce, and rope your fiancé in to help wherever possible!

Get Useful: Useable save the date cards are a great way to catch your guests attention. We love this idea of making an Instagram photo into stickers that you send to your guests to use to physically mark the date on their calendar – genius! Other ideas could be a fridge magnet printed with all your important information, or even a screen printed handkerchief to mop away those happy tears on the big day.

Whatever style you choose, remember that the most important reason for sending Save the Date cards is to make your life easier down the wedding planning line, so that when the time comes to send your ‘official’ invites, your RSVPs should come in quickly and you’ll have more time to spend on fun stuff like picking out the perfect accessories to style your stunning Venus Bridal gown!
